The South Coast Railway News
1st Quarter 2009
Due to work commitments my news pages for 2009 will now be quarterly. Also as well due to the fact I still have not completed my baseboards for the Seatown Beach extension. I really must try harder.
The first gala of the year has been a British Railways Steam Gala. This was all the BR liveried steam locos running on both the main and the branch line. This too was the first running on some of the new stock. British Railways (ex. LMS) 7P Princess Coronation Class No. 46251 "City of Nottingham" arrived and was coupled up to the maroon rake, which has been extended with two new coaches, Numbers M43230 and M41006. This now makes up a 4 coach rake. 46251 is awaiting new smoke deflectors, but this does not impede her performance. Another new arrival is Southern T9 "Greyhound" Class Number 120. This is the third Southern 4-4-0 on the line and arguably the best looking. The lighting on Green Bridge is all being replaced. The first new lampposts have been erected on the island platform and fully tested. Platform 1 will be done next before moving on to Bank Cliff. The restoration of the off site goods wagons is coming along well now with four stripped repaired and awaiting painting. These should join the fleet very soon. Two movies the first is the new T9 and the second is of the British Railways Steam Gala. Pictures (top to bottom)
